5 Ways to Stop Comparing Yourself to Others

Comparison. We all have done it atleast once or twice in our lives. Admit it. Whether if it’s that one  friend who you think is  perfect or your boyfriend’s ex girlfriend who he can’t seem to stop talking about, a sibling who seems to be your parent’s favourite, or whoever that person is we all have that one person we like to compare ourselves to. It starts out innocent at first and then eventually, if we don’t kick that habit we become obsessed and watch their every move, their every social media posts, then the hate comes, and the rest is history. Bottom line, comparison never leads to anything good.  If you want to live a happy life, you have to learn to kick the  comparison habit to the curb.

Here are  5 ways to stop comparing yourself to others

  1. Surround yourself with  positive people. When I was younger my mom always told me to watch the company I kept. It turned out to be true. Be around people who are happy, who love life and are comfortable in their skin. Believe me when I say their energy will transfer to you and vice versa.

  2. It's ok to not be perfect. Nowadays everyone wants to be perfect which is impossible. There is always going to be a flaw, it may not be visible but we all have flaws. EMBRACE your flaws!

  3. Focus on your strengths, the things that make you unique and embrace that.

  4. Compete with yourself. Strive to be the best version of yourself. Be better than you were yesterday. Set your goals and go get them. Impress yourself and love yourself.

  5. Practise being grateful. I always say this, someone somewhere is wishing they could be in my position. Just think about it. Every day above ground is something to be thankful for.
