Entrepreneur Highlight: Brittany Johnson

1.    Tell us more about yourself.
 
Brittany: My name is Brittany Johnson and I am a 27 year old, vegan, animal loving, spiritual, creative. I attended St. Andrew High School for Girls where I excelled in Visual Arts. I’m a “cup half full” kind of girl. I love creating, love nature. You could call me a Tree hugger lol.
 
 
2.    How did you get into your skill? 
 
Brittany: Well I was always the artsy type, excelling in visual arts in high school and attending Edna Manley. My mother had an old (but still very good) sewing machine that she got when she was a bit younger than me but never used. Inspired, I decided to try and make a dress and it turned out pretty well. After a lot of trial and error and watching YouTube tutorials, I got better and better!

3.    How do you promote yourself?
 
Brittany: I promote myself predominantly through Social Media and word of mouth.

Brittany: Yes, as a matter of fact, I do. But it’s a secret :). Stay tuned!

 
6.    What is your philosophy in life?

Brittany: Live and let live. As long as what makes you happy doesn’t hurt another sentient being in any way shape or form, do as you please. And let not the negative opinions of others get you down!
 
7.    In your opinion what do you think are the keys to success?
 
Brittany: I’m still discovering the keys to success. So far, I can definitely say that believing in yourself is the first step. Removal of all self-doubt is paramount.
 
8.    What made you start your business?

Brittany: Even as a somewhat shy teen in high school, I was never fond of the idea of going out and looking for a job and working for someone else. I’ve always wanted to be my own boss! So after some coaxing from some close friends and family I decided to turn my newfound skill into a business

9.    What blogs and websites do you follow and why?

Brittany: I don’t really follow any websites or blogs per-say. I don’t have much time during the days to be on the computer. Being your own boss, though extremely fulfilling, is a 24/7 job! When I do find some time though I like to read Natasha Lee’s posts. Her blog is called stylishlee.com. Check it out! I also read a lot of Shopify forums. Extremely helpful for new entrepreneurs. :)
