Suety Travel Diaries: Puzzle It
We escaped!
I am always up for trying new things and I am always looking for fun things to do so when my friend Chrystal called me up inviting me to Puzzle it, a place I've never been before I couldn't say no. She started to explain the concept of the place to me, that we would be locked up in a room for an hour or 30 minutes, depending on the package you choose, and we would need to work together as a team to solve puzzles to escape the room. I was sold on the place before she could even finish explaining, we booked the date and waited for the day to come. We had enough persons to form 2 groups so we opted for the FRAMED package. The framed package is the only package that allows for two teams to compete against each other and play at the same time. In the lobby they had the top scores of other teams that had done the rooms before. Seeing all those names on the board motivated us, we wanted our names on the board too and 25 minutes was the time to beat.
Just imagine 2 groups of competitive people and some top scores to beat. The host gave us the scenario and then took us to our rooms. The room looked like a regular school office, no obvious clue. I immediately knew this was going to be a challenge. "Go" I heard him say and locked the door behind him. The game had officially started. We tried to recite the scenario in our heads to help us find the first clue and some of us started to look for anything out of place, anything weird, anything that would lead to a key to open the door. We found the first clue easily but it got harder and harder with each clue we found. Every now and then I would glance at the clock to see how much time we had, while still trying to find the clues. Working as team can be good if you can successfully work together but if you can't, it can be quite chaotic. Because the rooms were beside each other we could hear the other team cheering which indicated that they were getting closer to escaping . This encouraged us to try harder because we did not want to lose and we wanted our name on the board.
We finally escaped. We worked together and we got out and in under 25 minutes so our team name went on the board. The other team did not escape in time and we had to rescue them.
