Suety Travel Diaries: Sea Garden Resort
The perfect getaway in Mobay.
It's crazy how quickly the summer went by. Usually, when I think of summer I think of beaches, pools, fun with friends, new adventures every weekend...but none of that happened this year. In fact, I was pretty low key the entire summer. I knew I had to change that and when the opportunity came for me and my friends to spend a weekend at The Sea Garden Resort I knew had to take it.
Their customer service was amazing.
Let me just say this, customer service is very important to any business. I have worked as customer service representative in various organizations for over 7 years. While I might not be in the field anymore, I know what good customer service should be. The team at Sea Garden were polite, friendly and helpful. I was really impressed with the customer service I received.
"Likkle but Tallawa"
This popular Jamaican quote is usually said to describe something that is strong and powerful and not to be underestimated. Sea Garden, despite it being a small and fairly new should definitely not be underestimated. I had no idea that I would have so much fun at this small all inclusive resort. The resort has only one pool but it is a decent sized pool. I loved the fact that they also have a Jacuzzi that is accessible to all guests. They have about 4 bars on site for you to get your favourite alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages, so you don't have to worry about waiting in a crowd to be served.
If you're more of a beach person like me, then they have a private beach near by for you to sit back, relax and soak up some sun. You can also take part in water activities like kayaking or snorkeling. I loved that they have gazebos on the beach, so if you're not feeling the urge to go into the sea you can still appreciate the scenic view and the beach without having to get your hair wet or sand on your feet. We had our breakfast and dinner in the main, all you can eat buffet area and for lunch, we chilled at the barbecue grill on the beach.
We didn't have to worry much about entertainment because there was so much to do. Their main amenities are their general pool, a kiddies pool, spa services, a jacuzzi, free wifi, free parking, air conditioned rooms, a gym, 2 tennis courts, Snorkeling, Kayaking, Scuba diving on site, a games room and a disco bar.
We spent the second day by the beach, the sun was out and the vibe was right. I tried kayaking which I found very relaxing. We also rode on a glass bottom boat ( Not apart of Sea Garden resort). The boat ride included giving us a little history of Montego Bay and the developments over the years, we fed the fishes bread and we snorkeled- all in one hour. Later that night we went to the disco bar to enjoy our last night at the resort.
I gave Sea Garden A Thumbs Up Because...
We were greeted with a cold towel and rum punch on entry.
The rooms were really clean and spacious.
I loved the modern flat screen TV and cable stations.
The WiFi worked pretty much everywhere on the property and even by the private beach which is on the other side of the road.
I always could get food or something to drink. When one bar or food section was closed there was another open to facilitate my greedy self :)
Even though they had a clear cut off time for some of the places like the snack bar, the gym, disco bar etc, the staff was willing to give an extra 10 -15 minutes to enjoy ourselves some more.
It's very close to the town so if you wanted to explore the city, you could.
What I didn't like
They have a security deposit policy where they will charge your card $100 USD until the end of your stay in the event of any damage or loss. This deposit is to be refunded if no charges are incurred. The problem I had with this was, I called and I wasn't told about this. We got all the information to make the reservations and to make payment. The payment was made and I got the confirmation email, however, I was still not informed about this and so I was definitely not prepared to pay the fee. LUCKILY we had extra cash.
I fully enjoyed my stay at the Sea Garden Resort and I am sure my friends would say the same. If you are looking for a nice getaway with your significant other, friends or even by yourself, Sea Garden is ideal.
